How short can you make it?

During lockdown a number of theatre companies seem to have had the bright idea of running playwriting competitions. First I entered the Chesil Theatre Co.'s 'Take Ten', a ten-minute maximum for up to 4 actors, and then my local Ilkley Playhouse came up with '8x8x8', where the maximum time is EIGHT minutes and they'll select the best eight. That has just closed and we've been informed there were 84 entries, giving everyone a nearly 1 in 10 chance of making the list. I'm not sure how worthwhile it is to try to say something in such a short span, to be honest; I certainly found it impossible to get in much light and shade. However, let's wait and see...
