Well, I've now spent two weekends proofreading my book on gender roles in children's adventure fiction - that is, been through it twice. I could probably keep making minor adjustments forever, but no, I'm going to send it back to the typesetter tomorrow. Time to grit my teeth and just say: it's as good as it's going to get now.

It's really interesting to experience the whole process of having a book published; my main problem is they tell you one thing at a time rather than give you any kind of overview, so I don't really know what comes next or how long it's likely to take. With a bit of luck, someone will now be able to give me an approximate publication date. Any Arthur Ransome, Captain Johns or Enid Blyton fans, get ready to place an order!
